The Nell Van de Graaff Classic is one of the most popular events on the Queensland chess calendar and is a great event for players of all ages! 
 
There are two divisions, with an Open division along with a Under 1200 QJ Junior only event. The tournament has a unique teams twist to add an extra element to the event

It is a 9 round Swiss tournament with time control of 90 minutes plus a 30 seconds per move increment from move 1 (Fischer).

It is a 7 round Swiss tournament with time control of 90 minutes plus a 30 seconds per move increment from move 1 (Fischer).

A CAQ approved weekender Swiss tournament 60 minutes plus 10 seconds per move (Fischer)

A 6 round Swiss 60 minutes per side plus 30 seconds per move increment from move 1 (Fischer).
* FIDE and ACF rated.
* All entrants must be a member of the CAQ.
* If scores are tied, the prize money and the title will be shared. 
* Players can win only one prize. 
* The title can only be won by a Queensland player.
* Entrants must be born before 1975.
